You don't have to but I do recommend you also read the first book in this series The Thursday Murder Club. Richard Osman's The Man Who Died Twice is the second book in a series featuring the delightful Thursday Murder Club. Set in the retirement community of Cooper's Chase the club members include Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim. They are all in their 70s and still active and sharp. Elizabeth is retired from British Secret Service, Joyce is a retired nurse, Ibrahim is a retired psychologist and Ron is a retired union organizer. They formed their club with the intent of reviewing and solving cold cases.

In The Man Who Died Twice Elizabeth's ex-husband arrives at Cooper's Chase. Not with the intention of living out his golden years but because he is on the run after a botched secret service operation. During this operation millions of dollars worth of diamonds were stolen. Deaths insue and the club is trying to find both the murderer and the stolen diamonds.

It is not just the mystery that makes this book worth reading but the life Richard Osman creates for each of these characters. You will absolutely fall in love with them and cheer them on as they resolve all the mysteries that surround them. I can't wait for the next book in this series!
